One of the reasons I'm starting this site is to put valuable resources together in one spot. That way I can refer my friends and neighbors to the information I have gathered. And it helps me find it to, when I need it.
So my first entry is about recycling everyday household batteries. Not the ones that run your car or boat.
For those of you who don't know (I was one) over a year ago it became illegal to throw batteries in the garbage. It's not that I'm worried about getting caught throwing batteries in the garbage as I am about the long term effects of doing so.
I guess I'm going green as I get older. So here is my list that I received in the mail today. I was thrilled to see all these businesses making it easy for us to recycle.
Kudos to Longs Drugs, Radio Shack, Ace Hardware, Rite Aid, Walgreens, Danville Music (I'll have to tell Greg (the owner) thanks for this), and Moraga Hardware.
Here is what they accept: AA, AAA, C, D, and 9 volt. So the next time you have to visit one of these stores, do everyone a favor and bring in those sacks full of dead batteries.
It doesn't get any more convenient.

Want to get rid of that old computer equipment, cameras and cell phones for free? You will find that here too.
I remember when I had to drive 40 minutes to Berkeley to recycle old computer parts and pay them to take it. No more. Check out the link above. You'll be pleased.
Until next time,
Robin
